Litecoin Halving Takes Place, Bitcoin Price Jumps And Bitcoin Blockchain More Secure Than Ever — The Crypto2Cash Chronicle
Another eventful weekend has passed. Don’t miss out on anything crypto with our daily Chronicle.
Litecoin Halving Takes Place
Today at around 12.15 CET the long awaited Litecoin halving happened. The halving happened at block 1'600'000 and rewards went from 25 LTC per block to 12.5 LTC per block. As expected, Litecoin’s price is on the up, increasing by over 10 percent and currently trading at $102.79. Looking at past halvings of large cryptocurrencies, there is a tendency for prices to drop, after the halving has happened, so it will be interesting to see if Litecoin follows this pattern.
Bitcoin Price Jumps
After noting the first red month since January, the Bitcoin price has jumped back up again. The largest cryptocurrency rose by a whopping 9.50% in the last 24 hours, shooting past the $11,000 mark, currently trading at $11,655. Many Alt-Coins quickly followed Bitcoin’s price pattern, with the likes of Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash also rising. In total, the combined market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies rose by over $9 billion in just 24 hours.
Bitcoin Blockchain More Secure Than Ever
The total computing power of the Bitcoin network has hit yet another record. The total hashrate increased by over 10 percent in the last 2 weeks and is currently sitting at 71.43 quintillion hashes, meaning that it got even harder, if not impossible, to attack. It is estimated that over 100k new miners started operating in the last two weeks alone.
