Libra forms governing council
Despite big payments- and commerce-related firms including Mastercard, Visa, eBay, Stripe and PayPal, leaving the Libra Association, the association is remaining optimistic about the project.
The consortium’s 21 members formed a five-member board that comprises of Facebook’s David Marcus, representatives from non-profit Kiva Microfunds, PayU, venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and Xapo Holdings Limited.
Bitcoin network transfers $1 billion for price of cup of coffee
The CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp has highlighted Bitcoin’s utility after funds worth almost $1 billion changed hands for less than $4 in fees.
Bitstamp had transferred around 107,800 BTC of its funds to Xapo, paying a fee of 0.0234 BTC — or 0.0000217%. Bitstamp CEO Nejc Kodrics summarized: the funds “transferred in a single transaction for the price of a cup of coffee.”

Bitcoin was trading around 8.400 USD last weekend before experiencing Sunday’s price drop to approximately 8.150 USD. Currently, Bitcoin is trading around 8.280 USD.
