Crypto Market Trades Sideways

The Crypto market has only seen little change overnight, with almost all top 20 currencies trading sideways. Bitcoin did not manage to break trough the $8,000 mark again and is currently trading at $7,824, with it’s price unchanged since yesterday. Top performer of the day was Binance Coin, up by 6 percent and coming close to it’s all time high again, currently trading at $31,45. Bitcoin SV was the biggest looser of the day, down almost 12 percent.

FBI Starts Quadriga Investigation

The FBI has started investigating the case of defunct Canadian cryptocurrency exchange QuadrigaCX. Quadriga was the subject of many headlines at the start of the year, when the exchanges founder mysteriously died and allmost all of the exchanges’ funds went missing. The FBI is now gathering testimonies of U.S based customers, who lost their money on the exchange. The involvement of the FBI also means, that this case will go past the liquidation procedure and that a criminal procedure is likely to follow.

Developer Returns $500,000 In Ether

Drew Stone, a developer working on the Edgestone project, has returned $500,000 in Ether, after an unknown user accidentally copy-pasted the wrong address. The user had sent 2000 ETH to a smart contract, which would usually mean that it is locked into that contract and can not be retrieved, but because it was the first transaction the wallet ever made, Stone was able to send back the funds. The way he did it is a Lockdrop Recovery contract and these can only bee used if a wallet has only completed one transaction. This was not the first time a user accidentally sent a large fund to the wrong address. Earlier this year, someone switched up the total transaction size and the fee, meaning that he sent $200,000 in Ether to a mining pool, instead of just a few dollars.
