Bitcoin.org hacked, scammers stole $17.000, capacity Lightning reaches 2.500 BTC and Robinhood opens platform
Bitcoin.org website hacked
Bitcoin.org, the official website of the biggest cryptocurrency, is being compromised by hackers who are now running a giveaway scam.
Visitors to the website were greeted with a popup, asking them to send crypto to a Bitcoin wallet via a QR code and receive double the amount in return. By now, the scammers already received $17.000 in BTC.
Bitcoin.org serves a knowledge hub and the website was in August 2008 started by Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto. It hosts various resources such as the original whitepaper and developer documentation on Bitcoin. The domain is now maintained by the anonymous Bitcoiner called Cobra.

Robinhood starts withdrawals BTC from platform
Robinhood has confirmed they are rolling out a crypto wallet with the fintech broker launching a waitlist for those that want to join. It said:
“Starting next month, the first customers will begin testing crypto wallets on Robinhood… After that, we will continue to roll out access to more and more customers through our waitlist.”
While their circa 25 million customers currently can trade major cryptos on the app, they can’t deposit or withdraw bitcoin.
“The ability to deposit and withdraw cryptocurrencies is tricky to do with scale, and we want to make sure it’s done correctly and properly,” Robinhood’s Chief Executive Officer Vlad Tenev previously stated.

Capacity Bitcoin’s Lightning Network broke 2.500 BTC
Last week, the Lightning Network broke a record: 2.500 BTC locked in payment channels. The liquidity of the scaling solution on top of Bitcoin never reached this number before.
In the meantime, just some days later, this capacity already reached the 2.750 BTC. This increase is most likely due to the adoption of Lightning in El Salvador.
Bitcoin became a legal tender earlier this month, and the government wallet Chivo accepts Lighting payments. Also OpenNode and IBEX Mercado, two popular solutions for merchant to accept bitcoin, are based on Lightning.
