Binance announces “significant security changes”
Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced some significant security changes after last week`s hack, that saw 7000 Bitcoin stolen by hackers. In a blog post published on the official website, the Chinese exchange noted, that they will be changing their two-factor authentication process, their Application Programming Interface (API) and their KYC procedures. CEO Zhao Changpeng also announced that withdrawals and deposits, which were suspended due to the attack, will “resume early this week”.
Bitcoin breaks through $8,000
Bitcoin has seen one of the best weekends and week starts ever, rising more than $2000 since last Friday. The biggest cryptocurrency in total market capitalization spiked at $8,300 today, noting a new yearly high and one of the most successful weekends in history. The price has currently stabilized at around $8,200, noting a large gain of over 16 percent on the day. Most Altcoins have also seen large price increases over the weekend and today, with most of them being up between 10 and 15 percent in the last 24 hours. Top performer of the day was Ripple, up more than 22 percent and currently eyeing at the 40 cent mark. The total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies is now as high as it was in July 2018 and it will be interesting to see how this stunning price movement will continue.
Binance and Coinbase See Traffic Spike
Binance and Coinbase, arguably the two biggest crypto exchanges in the world, have both seen around a million unique daily visits in April, meaning that traffic increased by 13 and 27 percent, respectively. A large part can be accounted for the big price gains Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies posted. There are no other exchanges that even come close to the numbers these two have, with no other exchange noting even more than 400,000 daily visitors. It is also possible, that Binance and Coinbase see even more visitors than the data suggests, as users of the mobile apps are not accounted for.
Satoshi’s treasure attracts 60,000 users
Satoshi’s Treasure, the treasure hunt for a price of $1 million, has already attracted more than 60’000 people. The goal of the game is to solve puzzles and find fragments of a Bitcoin address. In total there are 1000 fragments and as soon as one person or a group of people have found 400 of these, they win the prize. People have now created large teams, issuing their own team merchandise and one team even created their own token, which they give away for tips on the puzzles.
