Baktt is Launching Bitcoin Futures Today
After 13 months of questions, Baktt opens the door for institutional investors to take positions on the cryptocurrency in a federally regulated venue.
What is most unique about Baktt’s futures is that they will be physically settled, meaning buyers receive Bitcoin at expiration, and that they expire after a day.
Baktt launching futures contracts is a significant move for the industry, according to John Todaro, director of research at TradeBlock:
“The offering demonstrates that more and more Wall Street institutions are taking a close look at digital currencies and want to gain exposure to this new asset class,” he said.
The Popularity of Bitcoin in China Consistently Rises in 2019
The popularity of the keyword Bitcoin on major search engines in China has been on the rise since early 2019 following the strong rally of the bitcoin price.
Since January, in merely nine months, the bitcoin price has increased from $3,736 to $10,000 by 167 percent against the U.S. dollar.
Alex Krüger, a global markets analyst, noted that the rise in the search interest of bitcoin during key periods coincide with spikes in interest towards the trade talks between the U.S. and China.
Facebook Buys Chatbot Startup Servicefriend to Integrate Into Calibra
Facebook has acquired the chat-bot startup Servicefriend for customer service for Calibra, the digital wallet for Facebook’s planned Libra cryptocurrency.
Announcing Libra and Calibra, Facebook said that it wanted to reach unbanked consumers and give them access to financial services.
Servicefriend provides artificial intelligence-powered bots that can mimic the intelligence, comprehension and empathy of a human to such a degree that customers won’t realize they are interacting with a bot.
