Bakkt plans to launch a consumer app
Bakkt announced yesterday that the company is planning to launch a consumer-facing app to help retail consumers interact with cryptocurrencies.
The app might support more than just Bitcoin, which is the only cryptocurrency Bakkt provides futures contracts for at this moment. The announcement also stated that Starbucks will be the launching partner when the app goes live in the first half of 2020.
Bitmain’s CEO ousts co-founder
Bitcoin Cash surged 10% the past 24 hours after Bitmain, a major supporter of Bitcoin Cash, fired a senior executive.
Bitmain’s CEO Jihan Wu stated that Co-Founder Micree Ketuan Zhan had left the company. He also warned Bitmain staff not to interact with Zhan anymore, threatening to terminate employment contracts if they did.
Zhan is Bitmain’s biggest shareholder, with a reported 60% stake.
‘Blockchain’ is booming on Chinese social media
Search volumes for ‘blockchain’ are spiking on Chinese social media platforms after the Chinese government took a positive stance on blockchain technology last week.
Since the announcement searches for the term ‘Bitcoin’ have more than tripled on WeChat and Weibo
